Sweet People Productions proudly presents the amazing Bela Fleck and the Africa
Project at the Waterville Opera House on February 26, 2010. Joining Bela for this show will be Bassekou Kouyate of Mali, one of the true
masters of the ngoni, the ancient forerunner of the banjo found throughout West
Africa; Anania Ngoliga of Tanzania, a blind multi-instrumentalist and singer,
for The Africa Project he plays the Wagogo thumb piano, a deep-toned instrument
called ilimba; and John Kitime of Tanzania, a guitarist and singer who has led
the acclaimed Kilimanjaro Band for over 30 years.

As part of their recent move to a more spacious office, Pinnacle Development Group has a beautiful new computer training room available for half or full day rental. The training room can comfortably accommodate groups of up to six people plus one presenter. Each of the six training stations is equipped with a Dell laptop computer with high speed wireless internet service. To facilitate the training, the instructor is provided with a laptop, podium, overhead projector, and laser pointer. Coffee and water is complementary, and refreshments for your group can be set up in our kitchen area.  Spotlight on History:
THE WATERVILLE SAVINGS BANK BUILDING

Waterville
Savings Bank was organized in 1869. In 1903 the bank outgrew their
original headquarters and built a remarkable new building at 173 Main
Street. The bank occupied the north store and there were a variety of
offices on the upper floors.
 This
was the first building in Waterville to use reinforced concrete floor
construction and was considered to be a fireproof structure at the
time. Its facade is constructed of gray Roman brick with limestone
trim. Roman bricks are longer, narrower and flatter than standard
bricks. Architect William Butterfield of Waterville, who also designed
the C. W. Hussey Building, was the designer. William Butterfield was
the son of architect builder Chessman Butterfield.
In 1939 the bank again outgrew its space and bought a building across the street, which had been home to Ticonic Bank.
This building is currently for sale or lease.

 Spell Bound to host New England Regional Yu-Gi-Oh! Tournament
Spell Bound... A Gamers' Paradise, located in downtown Waterville, has been selected by Konami Digital Entertainment to sponsor and promote a New England Regional Yu-Gi-Oh! tournament on February 27, 2010. This will be a first time event for Maine! The Holiday Inn (Colby Room), 357 Main Street, Waterville, ME will host the event. Registration will begin at 10:00 AM and the event will last for the entire day. You only have to register if you plan on playing in the tournament, guests are welcome.
