THE KRUTZKY BLOCK
Larsen's Jewelry
59 Main Street
In 1911 a fire destroyed the old wooden building on this site (pictured right). A new brick building was erected in 1912. Interesting details include the upper floor windows and the meeting of the facades to incorporate the corner on Common and Main Streets.
In the 1950s there was a smoke shop on the ground floor. From the late 1970s to late 1980s this site was Michaud's Jewelers. Michaud renovated the building in 1976. Today the building is home to Larsen's Jewelry on the first floor, and the upper floors are apartments. Under the Waterville Main Street Façade Improvement Grant program, Larsen's installed new awnings in 2005.
