Beginning Silk Screen Printing with Sandy Stewart
Class fee: $40, plus $5 materials fee
Tuesday & Wednesday, April 22 and 23, 10am-12pm
Silk screen printing is a way to make designs and pictures using a special kind of stencil which can be repeated over and over again. The fun starts with a simple idea cut out of wax paper, which creates a stencil of a single or several shapes. Then, placing the cut out design between the screen (a frame covered with “silk”) and a large piece of paper, we will apply the ink, forcing it through the screen and the open spaces in the stencil to make the first print. We will start with one color of ink and see where that takes us. We might repeat the first design again and again, perhaps adding more colors or screen a new stencil to compliment the first…. We will experiment!! Please note: this is a two part class!
