Multi-Week Art Classes for Adults & Teens
Enameling with Sandy Stewart
$96, plus $30 materials fee; Tuesday nights: February 5, 12, 26, & March 4, 6:00-9:00pm
Explore the many ways to fuse glass crystals to metal! Learn dry sifting, sgraffito, stenciling, wet packing, cloisonné, and the use of silver foil and enamel threads. Watch the amazing color change as you take your piece out of the kiln and watch it cool! Discover the many possibilities of this fascinating medium as you make jewelry, bowls, wallpieces, or whatever your art desires!
The Possibilities of Watercolor with Kiri Guyaz
$96; Wednesday nights: February 6, 13, 27, & March 5, 6:00-8:00pm
Let out your creative side—play, learn, grow! Build on your previous watercolor experience as you develop your own watercolor style and go into more depth exploring composition, wet-into-wet techniques, glazes, lifting out, and more. Please bring artwork you may want to work on, as well as a few photos (simple subjects) which you have taken. Please purchase supplies before first class.

Draw, Draw & Draw Some More! with Laurie Proctor
$25; Ages 10 to Adult; Saturday, February 23, 10:00am-12:00pm
This is an advanced drawing course for children, teens and adults who have some drawing experience and want to learn more. We will be using a live, clothed model. Students will learn foreshortening and proper proportion. Students will do contour and partial blind contour drawings. They will also become more familiar with capturing an action and gesture.

Meet at the Colby Museum of Art for a tour of the collection and then head down to Freshwater Arts for a hands-on family workshop.
Navajo Sandpainting with Ann Rhinehardt
$45; Ages 10 to Adult; Sunday, March 16, 1:00-5:00pm
The Navajo create sandpaintings during healing ceremonies using spiritually significant symbols. It has developed into an art form in modern times. We will learn about this ancient tradition and then design and create our own sandpainting meant to be a blessing for our lives.
Second Annual Gelatin Printmaking Marathon with Joel Levasseur
$35, includes most materials*; Adults; Saturday, April 12, 9:00am-4:00pm
Come learn the process of creating monotypes from a gelatin plate. Gelatin Printmaking is a low-tech, non-toxic form of printmaking using water-based printing inks, without the use of a press. Organic materials, found templates, stencils, and shapes from everyday household items that intrigue you are all part of the process. Working small and working fast are encouraged during this marathon. For beginners and experienced printmakers. *Additional required materials: Brayer and paper (i.e., printmaking, rice, bond, etc.).

Water Works, Water Fun with Laurie Proctor
Monday, February 18
Come play with paint and water to see what awesome marks you can make. Students will splatter, blow, drip and sponge paint to create their very own masterpiece. You will have lots of fun while learning about mixing color and basic design concepts.
A New World with Craypas & Paint! with Sandy Stewart
Tuesday, February 19
Starting with BIG paper and Craypas, students will fill the paper with fantastic creatures that crawl, fly, walk, run, and swim, putting them in an imaginary world of humungous trees and giant plants, rocks, and water. Next, we will add watery paint to add more color and watch as the Craypas resist (or push away) the watercolor so that both the paint and the Craypas are seen.
Shadow Box Houses with Heidi Pomerleau
This class will be held in two sessions, but please note that you can sign up for one or both!
Day 1: Wednesday, February 20
Build a model of a house using wood, cloth, wallpaper, paint and more! This sculpture will be arranged like a shadow box so you can look into the rooms. Paint or wallpaper the interior, use cloth to create curtains and carpets.
Day 2: Thursday, February 21
Create figures and furniture for your house using a variety of materials, such as tin foil, plaster, gauze, sculpey, pipe cleaners, and more.
Clay Class in Handbuilding with Kim Brennan
Friday, February 22
Handbuilding in clay, or sculpture, is one way of working with clay. The basic techniques are easier to learn and the range of forms you can produce is much broader. If you are interested in clay, you will be surprised how easy it is to begin making nice functional ware or artworks on your very first day using pinching, coil and slab techniques. Work will be available for pick-up two weeks later.

Oil Pastel Painting with Ann Rhinehardt
Monday, February 18
Come and paint with Oil Pastels on black paper! Using watercolor paper that has been gessoed black, students will choose to paint a still life or landscape. The black paper really makes the colors pop!
Woven Painting with Ann Rhinehardt
Tuesday, February 19
Come and try a new way to create art! Using mixed media (watercolors, acrylics, oil pastels, and colored pencil), you will create a still-life painting. Then, you will cut your still-life into strips and weave a new painting. The compositional possibilities are endless, and you will see things you hadn't seen before!
Key Collage with Pat Binette
Wednesday, February 20
This is a wonderful opportunity to use your imagination to create interpretive art work. Students will receive a metal key to use as a focal point for a mixed media collage. Materials will be provided – including canvas board, acrylic paints, colored pencil, and a variety of paper materials (newspapers, magazines, etc.).
Wire & Hose Creative Sculptures with Kim Brennan
Thursday, February 21
Using imagery from your favorite hobbies and your imagination, you will learn how to make sculptures with wire, pantyhose, and acrylic paint!
Drawing: Morphed Animals with Kim Brennan
Friday, February 22
Students will warm up with a round robin drawing exercise. Then, using books for imagery, students will morph two different animals together to create a fun new animal. Students will then draw their new animals in a scenic setting and finish them by using acrylic paint to finalize their creation.
